With the cold winter months upon us, nothing says stylish - and practical - like velvet. Warm, classic, and effortlessly chic, this rich texture makes for the perfect winter accessory. Unique velvet fabrics have been sprinkled in across our collections– including the very newest,  Zeylin. Here, we’re breaking down what printed velvet is and how its styled throughout Eastern Accents collections.

What is Velvet?

Richly soft and well-loved, this classic fabric is either handwoven or machine-made. Machine-made velvet is double-faced, meaning that two fabrics are woven together, face to face, joined by the weft yarns. These yarns are then cut automatically, which forms the signature soft pile on both faces.

Velvet fabrics are known for their plush texture and sheen. Browse our Uma velvet fabrics in a wide range of colorways for some of our favorite classic options.

Alpaca Velvets

Debuted this past fall, our Brahms Alpaca velvets offer a durable and moisture-wicking fabric that still retains softness. These naturally hypoallergenic and luxurious fabrics come in a variety of colors to fit a wide range of projects.

What are Printed Velvets?

As opposed to many fabrics where the pattern is created during the weave, printed patterns are applied later. After the soft pile is created and the velvet is formed,  the printing can begin. There are a few different methods ranging from digital printing, screen-printing, or using heat. No matter the craft, this plush material can be printed upon using different colors and patterns, all while maintaining a lush and luxurious feel.

Byzantine Printed Velvet Accent Pillow

With our Byzantine Decorative pillows, for example, a lustrous abstract design is printed over the colored velvet, making for an engaging painterly pattern.

Incorporating these patterns can add unique depth to a bedscape, making printed shams perfect to pair with subtle tones. Styled with neutral colors or simple fabrics, patterned velvets draw the eye in and accentuate the use of texture.

But printed patterns can also help to break up the look and feel of texture. With bolder glam collections and luxurious faux furs, this patterned fabric adds a new dynamic to all the softness.

New: Zeylin!

Explore these lush textures in action with Eastern Accents’ very newest collection, Zeylin. An icy gray color palette, including metallic duvet colors, sets the scene for a wintery, yet neutral bedscape. Showcasing lustrous and detailed fabrics, this collection features printed blue velvets running throughout.

The signature printed pattern, Ferri Mist, is a cool blue gray, with radiant gold detailing dancing across. This abstract print adds an eye-catching shimmer both to the velvet and the entire ensemble. Stay warm with a printed velvet bed scarf, or accessorize with Zeylin’s soft and glamorously smooth shams for a bolder look. Feeling inspired?
