Before you begin...

We believe that designing your home should be a straightforward and enjoyable experience, so we have made it as simple as possible to assemble our upholstered beds. To get started, all you will need is two people and a Phillips-head screwdriver

Please note — our beds are designed with center feet on the metal slats. Do not remove these feet, as they support the mattress and box spring.

Check that you have received the following items with your bed order:

  • Headboard (1)
  • Side rails (2)
  • Low footboard (1)
  • Metal slats with center feet (3)
  • Screws (6)
  • Wingback style beds will include 2 matching wings
  • Platform Beds will include 1 bunkie board

Assembly process

Step 1

Let's get started! First, prop the headboard against a wall and connect the two side rails to each side of the headboard, as shown in the photos below. One person should hold the headboard for stability, while the other installs the rails. Each rail has two brackets that interlock with matching hardware on the headboard. We recommend connecting one rail at a time.

Step 2

Next, connect the footboard to both side rails using the same method from Step 1.

Step 3

With the outside of the frame assembled, it's time to add the support slats inside. Adjust the 3 metal slats until they match width of the bed. Then place the rails (feet down) into the notches in the side rails, as pictured below.

Step 4

Screw the metal slats into the side rail supports using the the pre-drilled holes and 6 screws provided. Then adjust the center feet as needed. Twist the feet down until the slats are level all the way across — you want to evenly support the box spring and mattress. Note, the feet may need to be at different heights if the floor is not level (old floors, textured rugs, etc).

Step 5 (Wingback Beds Only)

For wingback beds, such as our Corrado and Eden styles, you will need to attach the wings to the side of the bed. Each wing has three interlocking brackets that will affix to the headboard and side rail. Try to attach all the hinges at once (this may take a few tries). See below for an example of an assembled frame.

Step 6

Now the bed should be all set up! Finally you can place the box spring and mattress into the bed frame. Eastern Accents recommends a low profile box spring for our beds. At 7 inches tall, these will be entirely hidden inside our bed’s rails. Standard box springs (about 12” tall) will peak out above the side rails, as shown in the images below. In this case, a box spring cover or Super Queen/King sized duvet cover can help disguise taller mattresses and box springs.

For information on platform beds, see below!

Platform Beds

All Eastern Accents upholstered beds can be made in a 'platform' style, which does not require a box spring. The assembly process is the same as above steps 1-5, with the same brackets and hinges in use. Instead of a box spring, each platform bed comes with a bunkie board that sits on the bed frame’s slats and supports the mattress, as shown in the photos below.

FAQs

Where is Eastern Accents' furniture made?

Eastern Accents is a luxury home textiles design and manufacturing studio. We are based in Chicago, our operations are all headquartered in one location in the Windy City. Our furniture is carefully crafted and upholstered onsite, in the same building as our design, customer service, and bedding manufacturing departments. We are proud to be a tight-knit team with a close eye on product quality.

What is a "wingback" bed?

Beds with side wings, also called "wingback" beds, feature a headboard with extended side panels which curve inward, creating an enclosed and cozy feel. The style evolved from 17th century English wingback chairs, which provided warmth and protection from drafts before the invention of central heating.

Are there different kinds of box springs?

Yes, there are standard and low-profile box springs. Standard box springs are about 12" tall and low-profile box springs are about 7". Eastern Accents beds (excluding platform styles) require a box spring to support the mattress. We recommend low-profile box springs for our beds, which will be entirely hidden inside the side rails.

Do platform bed require box springs?

No, platform beds do not require box springs. Each Eastern Accents platform bed comes with a bunkie board that fits over the bed slats and supports the mattress.
