When you hear "quilted decor”, you might imagine a handmade, patchwork quilt in colorful cotton squares, but it can be so much more. Quilting is the process of joining three or more layers of fabric together—either by hand-stitching, a sewing machine, or specialized quilting machine. The three layers are typically the top fabric, an inside batting or insulating material, and the backing fabric. An array of stitches is sewn through all layers to create a three-dimensional padded surface. Quilting stitches vary from simple, functional fabric joinery to highly elaborate and decorative three-dimensional treatments. Quilting can be used in a huge variety of textile products, including bedding, home furnishings, and clothing. Let's dive into how we use quilting across Eastern Accents’ line.
How We Quilt

In the Eastern Accents factory, we make a variety of quilted items—from coverlets to bed scarves to Euro shams. The magic begins in our quilting department. First, we roll out our polyester batting and cut it to fit between the decorative outside fabrics perfectly. We have found that ¼” thick batting is best for our quilting, as the stitching will squish thicker batting down to a similar depth. Our industrial quilting machine allows us to stitch our own unique patterns onto our favorite fabrics. After the machine does its work, the quilted material is ready to be sewn into beautiful bedding!
Quilted Coverlets
The most common quilting project we make are our quilted coverlets. A coverlet is a thin, lightweight bed covering—similar to a large blanket. Unlike a duvet, it is a single piece without an insert. Coverlets are often quilt-stitched or matelasse-textured, decorative but not attention-grabbing. A coverlet is perfect for layering in colder climates, a single-layer sleeping to beat the heat, or just extra decoration. Classic Diamonds
One of our favorite ways to quilt is a classic diamond pattern. With colorful styles, like Beatrice and Manderley, the 1” diamond pattern allows the rich tone to shine and makes the plush velvet texture even more inviting. Coperta's lattice design on silky sateen makes for a soothing and sophisticated bedding layer. With chic geometric quilting, Nova makes traditional quilting techniques look fresh and modern.
Intricate Patterns
Our state-of-the-art quilting machine allows us to create a wide range of designs, with complicated patterns to match any style or theme. Inspired by the delicate artistry of decorative tile work, Viola’s feminine stitching and soft color-ways have been an Eastern Accent’s best-seller for many years. Our wave-stitched coverlet embodies a dreamy seaside feel, a perfect fit for Junonia’s tropical stylings.
Modern Channels
Channel quilting uses parallel, straight lines to create a structured, modern, and textured look. Both our Dominique and Adrienne coverlets utilize these channels on supremely soft velvet, blending the decadent and the contemporary. Silvio’s silky sleek coverlet features a large-scale chevron quilting pattern, taking the stitches to the next level.
Specially-stitched Pillows
Sometimes a little quilting goes a long way. If a full bedspread isn’t for you, Eastern Accents decorative pillows can add the perfect touch of stitching to your space. Our masculine Lorenzo and Noah collections each feature richly-textured quilted leather accents, elevating the material with elegant diamonds. The Rufus Nubuck Leather Decorative Pillow is stitched with both diagonal and vertical channels, forming a confidently cool, textured pattern.
