Last month, Eastern Accents was proud to unveil our updated drapery program! Expertly crafted in our Chicago studio, our designer window program includes a wide array of new fabrics and linings.
In relaxed flax linen, Brisa brings easy-breezy natural texture while classic Cavill showcases a sophisticated tweed pattern and plush boucle softness. Reverie’s subtle stripes adorn lightweight faux-silk, contrasted by the luxe richness of Uma's velvet panels. Any of these new collections can be paired with sheer Sway panels for a glowing, ambient effect.
Each new introduction to our drapery program offers custom size and style options. In addition to classic pinch pleat and rod pocket headings, we have introduced a modern 2-finger pinch pleat into our lineup of headers.
Fabrics and headings are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Eastern Accents’ curtain panels. Just like bedding, each of our curtain panels is constructed by-hand in our Chicago studio. Expert craftspeople take the utmost care to create draperies to your exact specifications, using only the finest materials. It is this attention to detail that gives our curtains their impeccable heirloom quality.
What makes our draperies superior?
We have poured over every aspect of drapery-making to create the best possible product. Eastern Accents’ curtains boast fuller coverage, more sophisticated sewing techniques, and are built to last a lifetime. Let’s take a further look so you can see what a difference this makes…
Fullness
2.5 Fullness (Ours)
1.5 Fullness (Theirs)Our panels have a standard fullness of 2.5. This means we use enough fabric to cover the width of a window or drapery pole two-and-a-half times. Such fullness creates rich, deep folds with full coverage and the lush look of high-quality custom panels. Proper fullness is especially important for functional panels used to block out sunlight.
Blind Stitching
Blind Stitching (Ours)
Visible Stitching (Theirs)When finishing our curtain panels, we use a method called “blind stitching”. Blind stitching creates seams and hem-stitches that are only visible on the back side of the fabric. Blind stitching is a marker of careful, skilled sewing—resulting in a more sophisticated finish.
Large Double Hem
A 4” double rolled hem helps our draperies maintain a cleaner, crisper hanging bottom edge. Having a double rolled hem also means our hems actually have triple thickness of fabric, adding weight and helping each panel maintain its shape and fullness—even with thin or sheer fabrics.
Weighted Corners
Bottom Weight (Ours)
No Bottom Weight (Theirs)On both bottom edges, we sew lead weights into the corners of our panels. This extra weight gives a clean finish and allows the panel to hang straight on both sides, while keeping the desired shape and coverage.
Lining & Interlining
Lining (Ours)
No Lining (Theirs)Our panels are lined with standard, blackout, or reflective lining, with the option to add specialty interlining as well. Lining protects your drapery fabric from light damage, provides extra insulation, and makes curtains more durable and weighty. Interlining is a layer of fabric between the face fabric and the lining that adds body and structure to panels. This is recommended with silks and other delicate fabrics. Panels without lining or interlining tend to look flimsy and more easily lose their shape.
Standard Lining
Soft-to-the-touch and wrinkle-resistant, our default drapery lining filters light, provides extra fullness, and helps extend the life of your curtains. Standard lining comes in two color options, Eris White and Eris Ivory. Available in both single and double widths, this standard lining is compatible with most panel sizes, and is stable in humidity to accommodate any climate. As the best-selling drapery lining in Europe, this multi-functional textile is a tried-and-true classic!
Specialty Linings
Eastern Accents offers plenty of specialty lining customizations. Available in both white and ivory color ways, our heavy-duty blackout lining prevents sunlight from coming through your curtains, while also insulating your windows and helping to deaden sound. Certified flame-resistant, this lining is the ideal choice for hotels and other commercial projects.
Solaris Silver, Eastern Accents’ reflective drapery lining, not only blocks out sunlight, but actually reflects it. Engineered for energy efficiency, this reflective lining will help to cut your cooling costs in hot summer months and insulate your home through the winter.
Our napped drapery linings, Vanth White and Vanth Ivory are fuzzy on one side and smooth on the other— perfectly combining standard and interlining. Ideal for curtains in thicker fabrics like velvet or boucle, this unique lining option keeps a panel from becoming too hefty.
Interlinings
Our bespoke interlining options are available to customize any of Eastern Accents' draperies. Not only does interlining provide extra light filtration to window treatments, it also aids in insulation and sound-deadening. Our 100% cotton Indus interlining is ideal for adding extra fullness, while Dorado’s ‘heavy bump’ textile is engineered to protect delicate silk-faced draperies. Each lining textile is available for use in custom projects or for purchase by-the-yard.

How many drapery rings/pins do I need?
Pleated drapery panels require a set of pins and decorative rings to hang on a rod. Single width (20 inch) panels require 7 pins per panel, one for each pleat and one for each end. Double width panels (40 inch) require 12 pins each. Pleated drapery panels include pins free of charge, but the decorative rings must be purchased separately.
